Thank you!

The Faith United Methodist Church Turkey Dinner Committee would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the dinner a wonderful success!

When we decided to do the supper, a few short weeks ago, we knew we could accomplish our goal, but we were overwhelmed by the positive response we received from you, our church family! We had 75+ people (members and friends of FUMC) donating pies and salads and/or volunteering to sell tickets, set up ahead of time, work the day of the meal, and clean up!

We feel so proud to be a part of this amazing church family!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Plans are already underway for next year's Turkey Dinner!

All parents of children who are 3 years old or in 3 grade should bring their children to the center of their choice to receive their 3-year-old Bible or their 3rd-grade Bible during the Worship Service. This is a special time in a child's life and we want everyone to receive a Bible! Please call the church office if you are unable to be at worship on October 1.

An Invitation to An Advent Study with Our Iowa Bishop Kennetha

Join Bishop Kennetha Bigham-Tsai, of the Iowa Annual Conference and other United Methodists from across the state on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. on Zoom beginning on Nov. 28,  and continuing every Tuesday ending on Dec. 19, 2023.

Friends, in November, we will begin a virtual, conference-wide Advent Study of Bishop Ken Carter’s new book, Unrelenting Grace. Bishop Carter calls grace the essence of a holy life, in which we recognize that God’s loving presence in our lives is a gift. Being able to receive that gift and extend it to others “…stretches us, mystifies us, unravels us, and ultimately heals us,” he writes.

For this season of Advent, I invite you to explore the unrelenting grace of God with friends and colleagues from around our conference. The study will help us remember who we are as United Methodists, and give us a sense of common belonging, shared identity and unity. Maybe, it will even put us on a road to healing. The study will be entirely online on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Central, beginning on November 28, then continuing on December 5, 12, and 19.

Sign up in the church office, if you are interested. Books are $9.50. We can have the Zoom connection available at the church for all interested.

We are looking for people who are interested in being a part of one of the many committees that are necessary to keep our church running! Could that be you? In particular, we are looking for people who are interested in our church History and Recordkeeping and Evangelism Committees.

The History & Records Committee keeps track of what has happened within our church over the years. There will be a lot to keep track of with the Pandemic and changes of the last few months. The chairperson for the Recordkeeping Committee is Candy Carlson. If you would be interested in being on the church History and Records Committee, call Candy at (515) 890-7203 or 332-4651.

The Evangelism Committee sends cards to shut-ins at different times of the year. If you have the gift of letter writing and card sending, this is the committee for you. (Cards are provided by the church or donated by church members.) Co-Chairs for the Evangelism Committee are Phyllis Warren (515) 368-0951 and
